Let’s Go South Lake Union Website Launches to Promote Transportation Options

Providing Travel Resources To a Growing Neighborhood

SeattleCommute Seattle, Seattle Department of Transportation and South Lake Union Chamber of Commerce announced today the launch of the Let’s Go South Lake Union website. Let’s Go SLU provides a transportation overview geared specifically to people living, working and visiting the growing South Lake Union neighborhood. The new site allows users to see all of their available public and private transportation options to get to and from the neighborhood.

“I am thrilled our neighborhood was chosen to receive a transportation resource website specific to our growing area that has all the information our businesses are looking for in one easy to navigate place,” says Danah Abarr, Director of South Lake Union Chamber of Commerce. “Let’s Go SLU will be vital tool for employers to share with new employees as they learn how to commute into the area.”

More than 50,000 people live and work in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. Transportation options can be difficult to find online, especially employees new to the area. This neighborhood specific online resource gives the user a quick glance of available public transportation options such as the streetcar and private options like dockless bicycle shares.

LetsGoSLU.com provides downloadable maps that highlight the ease of biking, walking, local bus routes and streetcar access within the neighborhood. The site also provides valuable tools and best practices for employers and property managers to help their employees and tenants connect to efficient and cost-effective transportation choices. The website promotes three educational videos highlighting transportation, small businesses and community involvement with the neighborhood. A long-time small business in South Lake Union, Glazer’s Camera, reflects on how ORCA business programs increased the happiness of their employees and how vital the benefit was when commuting to South Lake Union for work.

“For the last two years, we’ve been working to educate employers and property managers in South Lake Union about transportation options,” Commute Seattle Executive Director Kevin Futhey said. “Strong public-private partnerships are going to help keep this growing neighborhood moving, and LetsGoSLU.com is a great example of that collaboration.”

Let’s Go South Lake Union is a partnership of Commute Seattle, Seattle Department of Transportation and South Lake Union Chamber of Commerce. The South Lake Union neighborhood was the recipient of a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) pilot project grant using Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds. The pilot project provided transportation resources and trial ORCA cards to small businesses within the neighborhood. Let’s Go SLU website was one of the outcomes to provide up-to-date transportation resources. For more information visit LetsGoSLU.com.
